Capitol Hill Swaps Politics for Paws at Pet Night

Pet Night Celebrated on Capitol Hill: A Bipartisan Honor for Our Furry Friends

In a heartwarming display of unity, lawmakers from both parties put aside their differences to celebrate the cherished bond between humans and their pets during Pet Night on Capitol Hill. This annual event, co-hosted by organizations such as the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) and the American Pet Products Association (APPA), highlights the significance of pets in our lives.

Attendees had the delightful opportunity to meet therapy animals, adoptable puppies, and even Soleil, the 2025 National Dog Show Winner, underscoring the event’s joy and purpose.

Mike Karsting of the World Pet Association emphasized the event’s bipartisan spirit, inviting lawmakers to recognize pets as integral to public health and well-being. Steven Feldman of HABRI echoed this sentiment, noting that the personal stories shared were a testament to the positive impact pets have on lives.

The event also included the Cutest Pets on Capitol Hill contest, celebrating the most adorable companions of lawmakers, highlighting the connection between pets and their owners. Furthermore, the WPA honored Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson for his dedication to pet-related legislation, showcasing the importance of advocacy in the pet community.

Pet Night is part of a broader Pet Week on Capitol Hill, reinforcing the message that our furry friends enhance our lives, making us healthier and happier. It served as a reminder that even in Washington, our pets have champions fighting for them.
