Stellantis and Wayve Introduce AI-Driven Technology to Fiat and Maserati

Stellantis and Wayve are exploring the potential of a single AI driving model to support a diverse range of vehicle brands, including Fiat, Jeep, and Maserati. They have successfully tested hands-free driving capabilities using the Fiat 500e and Maserati Grecale, transitioning from integration to road testing in under four weeks. Their level 2++ system, combining Wayve’s AI Driver with Stellantis’ STLA AutoDrive platform, is set to launch in North America by 2028.

Previously, they integrated their technology into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, highlighting their goal to adapt the AI model across different vehicle designs and specifications. Alex Kendall, Wayve’s CEO, emphasized the development of a versatile AI Driver intended to enable safe and satisfying driving experiences globally, without relying on high-definition maps or custom hardware.

The partners aim to use this technology as a foundation for future level 4 driverless services on Stellantis’ platforms, validating each separately to ensure reliability.
