Judge Judy Sheindlin announces her retirement from television following ‘Judy Justice’

Judge Judy Sheindlin is passing the gavel to her son, Adam Levy, as she prepares to retire from on-camera work. Levy will host “Adam’s Law,” a courtroom program that Sheindlin created and executive produces, premiering in national syndication on September 14. Although Sheindlin, at 83, is stepping back from TV after her series “Judy Justice” concludes in October, she emphasizes that she is “not retiring, just rewiring.”

Levy, a Hofstra Law School graduate with experience as a private practice lawyer and a district attorney, has ventured into television with his own show. Sheindlin praises him as someone capable of leading a show, stating, “He has what it takes.” Throughout her career, Sheindlin gained widespread recognition for her straightforward approach and memorable catchphrases on “Judge Judy,” which aired for 25 seasons.

In her own journey, she’s become a source of inspiration, especially for women, encouraging them to define themselves without relying on others’ perceptions. Her influence continues to resonate through her family, particularly with her granddaughter Sarah Rose, who admires her grandmother’s wisdom and supportive nature.
