Nostalgia for the Early Aughts: A Glamorous Reunion
It’s the week of early aughts reunions, and honestly, the nostalgia is what’s keeping us warm as the weather chills. Beloved Gilmore Girls costars Lauren Graham and Melissa McCarthy came together last night at Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles. The moment was as meaningful and heartwarming as it was hilarious—because with these two, the laughs just don’t stop.

Graham was all elegance in a layered asymmetric red gown from Heirlome, styled with black accessories. McCarthy perfectly coordinated in a sparkly black Jenny Packham gown with beaded, sheer cape sleeves.
When the actors posed on their own, they exuded glamour and poise, but together, it was all comedy. Graham played Lorelai Gilmore while McCarthy played Sookie St. James, Stars Hollow’s top chef and Lorelai’s best friend, during the series’ run from 2000 to 2007.

Last night, Graham presented McCarthy with her honoree award, celebrating her work with the Joyful Heart Foundation, which focuses on helping survivors of violence. McCarthy praised Graham, reflecting on her early days filming Gilmore Girls and how Graham taught her to wield power with grace and patience.

Their friendship remains strong over the years, reminding us that while the world may change, some bonds last a lifetime.
