Black Cat Theater Cafe Opens in Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. – A new live theater and entertainment venue, the Black Cat Theater Cafe, is set to open on historic Studio Row in Tulsa. Owner Cody Mayo aims to bring European-style theater cafes to the heart of the city, featuring a cozy 50- to 75-seat space that combines live performances with a full cafe and bar.
Mayo shared that the venue will host live entertainment most weekends, with performances scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays, inspired by the popular theater cafes he enjoyed in L.A.
Family Entertainment Launching Soon
Starting in October, the Black Cat Theater Cafe will kick off its “Nevermore Season,” featuring family-friendly entertainment on Saturday afternoons. The first event is a children’s magic show, with future presentations including circus acts and family comedy, all accompanied by food and drinks from the cafe.
Mayo expressed excitement about providing families with various performance options: “Every Saturday, we have family entertainment in the afternoon, a matinee.”
Spooky Adult Theater Programming
As Halloween approaches, the venue will cater to adult audiences with the horror play “Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe.” Scheduled for two weekends later in October, this thriller is intended for mature audiences, adding to Tulsa’s Halloween festivities. “It’s something else to do in Tulsa during the spooky season,” Mayo noted.
A Versatile Event Space
With its beautifully designed 1930s vaudeville aesthetic, the Black Cat Theater Cafe also serves as a versatile space for private events, including corporate gatherings and birthday parties. Mayo highlighted the venue’s capability to incorporate live entertainment, featuring actors and performers to enhance events like corporate holiday parties.
