Chungju Hosts Networking Event for Diplomats
Chungju Culture and Tourism Foundation and The Korea Herald Collaborate for a Two-Day Event
Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, is set to welcome diplomats from 19 countries for a networking event dedicated to culture, tourism, and industry. Taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, the event aims to promote Chungju ahead of the Visit Chungju Year 2027.
The participating diplomats represent diverse regions, including Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America, accompanied by officials and family members. Notably, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will also be in attendance.
Officials from both the foundation and the Chungju city government believe the event will strengthen trust among diplomats while showcasing the city to a global audience. “This is a significant opportunity to present Chungju’s unique blend of cutting-edge technology, traditional culture, and culinary offerings,” stated a city official.
Chungju is focused on attracting more long-term tourists by enhancing lodging options and various cultural events. Mayor Lee Dong-seok recently met with Yanolja, a leading travel platform, to discuss promoting tourism and developing infrastructure for “smart tourism,” using technology to improve the travel experience.
This initiative marks an important step for Chungju as it aims to position itself as a central hub of global K-culture.
