Hoshi from the K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN is set to release a new digital single titled “Boyfriend” at 6 p.m. on Saturday. This track is part of a series of solo releases following his military enlistment last year.
According to Pledis Entertainment, “Boyfriend” is an R&B-influenced pop song that explores approaching a romantic interest with care. Hoshi co-wrote the lyrics, and the song features breezy rhythms and synthesizer sounds.
After enlisting on September 16, 2022, Hoshi became the fourth member of SEVENTEEN to begin his mandatory military service, with a discharge date set for March 15, 2027. He released “Take a Shot,” a hip-hop track, on the day of his enlistment. Since then, Pledis has continued to release his music, including “Fallen Superstar” in November, “Baby, Honey” in March, and “Snapback” in June.
Other SEVENTEEN members are also focusing on solo projects during their military service. Jun released his Chinese-language EP, “9,” on September 28, and Jeonghan and Joshua will debut their first unit EP, “Dreamscape,” on October 19. Jeonghan recently became the first member of SEVENTEEN to finish his military service in June 2026.
