New Chair of White House Council Claims US Government is Committed to Understanding UAPs

The topic of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), previously labeled as UFOs, is receiving serious attention from the U.S. government. In June 2026, the White House formed a UAP Science Advisory Council, led by Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, aiming to advise the government on understanding and resolving the nature of UAP.

At a recent private meeting, Loeb remarked on the government’s commitment to applying scientific methods to explore UAP, although specific discussions were not disclosed. The council includes a diverse membership, notably Ben Lamm, CEO of Colossal Biosciences, who expressed enthusiasm about contributing to a scientific investigation into UAP.

While studying these phenomena, public opinion shows mixed sentiments. A recent Gallup poll indicates that 49% of Americans believe all UAP can be attributed to human activity or natural phenomena. Only 37% think some UAP might be extraterrestrial. The perception of government transparency is also noteworthy, with 78% of respondents believing the government knows more about UFOs than it discloses.

The council’s mission is to rigorously analyze both historical and contemporary UAP data, aiming to increase clarity and accountability in this long-standing mystery. Lamm emphasized the importance of seeking evidence over belief, with hopes that their findings could reshape our understanding of the world.
