Mitsui Chemicals Introduces InnoCell™ P-Type for Enhanced 3D Cell Models
Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. has launched the InnoCell™ P-Type, an innovative adherent cell culture plate designed to support high-performance three-dimensional (3D) model construction and improve efficacy evaluation in drug discovery. This new product, part of the InnoCell™ series introduced on October 1, 2026, leverages proprietary technologies for high oxygen permeability and optimal surface treatment.
Key Features of InnoCell™ P-Type:
- Enhanced Oxygen Supply: Designed to improve oxygen supply for densely proliferating cells, thereby enhancing cell functions related to in vivo conditions.
- Improved Culture Environment: Supports organoid and cell-tissue model development, leading to better drug efficacy and toxicity assessments.
- Low Autofluorescence: Facilitates high-content imaging and improves data reliability in drug screening.
Insights from Research:
- Cardiac Organoids: Dr. Hidetoshi Masumoto from Kansai Medical University reported that InnoCell™ P-Type plates enabled the growth of human iPS cell-derived cardiac organoids with more uniform tissue thickness compared to conventional plates.
- Intestinal Organoid Evaluation: Dr. Jonny Sexton from the University of Michigan highlighted that using these plates allowed for sensitive assessments of epithelial barrier function with improved consistency.
Company Perspective:
Toshihiko Omote, CTO of Mitsui Chemicals, emphasized the role of InnoCell™ P-Type as integral research infrastructure in drug discovery, aiming to foster productivity and predictability in biomedical research.
