Miranda Hart: Living with chronic illness will pose challenges for Celebrity Traitors – The Irish News

Miranda Hart has publicly shared her thoughts about participating in The Celebrity Traitors, mentioning the challenges posed by her chronic illness. At 53, the beloved British comedian, known for the sitcom Miranda, disclosed her battle with Lyme disease, which eventually led to a diagnosis of Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)—a condition characterized by debilitating fatigue, insomnia, and brain fog.

Hart expressed her excitement about returning to television, stating, “The joy of mucking about on television again will hopefully outweigh some of the challenges.” Despite navigating her health issues, she feels ready to take on this new venture, emphasizing the importance of following what brings her joy.

She acknowledged that living with an invisible illness means others may not be aware of her struggles, stating, “When you live with a chronic illness, it’s invisible, so people don’t know that you’re sitting there in pain.” Yet, she is enthusiastic about forming connections and supporting others during the show.

Among her co-stars are fellow comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett, with Ranganathan humorously remarking on the betrayals that might occur during the game. The Celebrity Traitors premieres on Thursday, October 1, at 9:15 PM on BBC One, featuring multiple comedians in a game of deception and strategy.
