Virginia Lottery Introduces Initiative for Consumer Safety and Responsible Gaming Practices

Virginia Lottery Launches Consumer Protection Campaign for Responsible Gaming

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – The Virginia Lottery has initiated a new campaign emphasizing consumer protection in gaming. This effort aims to educate individuals on making informed gambling choices and to provide guidance for those facing gambling problems.

As access to gambling increases, including sports betting and online gaming, the Virginia Lottery is reinforcing its commitment to responsible play. Executive Director Kevin Hall stated, “If we’re going to offer gaming, we feel a responsibility to help people play responsibly.”

A key component of the campaign highlights the lottery’s online responsible gambling tools. These include features such as deposit limits and self-exclusion options to help manage gaming activity effectively.

The initiative also seeks to inform players about the distinction between legally regulated gaming and unregulated platforms, urging them to verify the legitimacy of online gaming sites.

The Virginia Lottery collaborates with the Virginia Council on Problem Gambling to provide resources for individuals facing gambling issues. Hall emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about available help, stating, “If gambling becomes a problem… know that there are resources available.”

For support, individuals can reach out to the Virginia Council on Problem Gambling at 888-532-3500.
