“Avatar: The Last Airbender” Unveils Fourth Series Focused on Avatar Kuruk

New Avatar Series Announcement

A fourth animated series in the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise is in the works, announced by co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko at New York Comic Con (NYCC).

Upcoming Series: Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos

The new series, titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, will focus on the waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe who came before Aang, Roku, and Kyoshi. Unlike its predecessor Avatar: Seven Havens, which follows Pavi (voiced by Saheli Khan), Wave of Chaos dives back into the past to explore Kuruk’s story. Kuruk has previously been mentioned in the franchise and has a storied history, particularly his clashes with the face-stealing spirit Koh.

Key Details:

  • Previous Appearances: Kuruk is known from earlier Avatar series and novels that detail his experiences.
  • Art Style: First looks at Kuruk showcase him exhibiting waterbending powers and even surfing alongside a charming koalaotter companion.
  • Renewed Series: Avatar: Seven Havens has also been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.
