The Chateau de Ville was a renowned musical and dinner theater that opened its first location in Framingham, Massachusetts, in 1971. Founded by Mario Ciroli, who had previous success with a function facility in Stoneham, the Chateau de Ville branded itself as the epitome of elegance—setting the standard among similar venues across the U.S.
Throughout the 1970s, it hosted an array of renowned performers, including The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, and Whitney Houston, drawing in audiences with its promise of affordable live entertainment. The opening night in July 1971 featured the Broadway play “Under the Yum Yum Tree,” and the venue quickly became a popular destination for both locals and visitors from around Boston and Worcester.
However, by the early 1980s, changing tastes in entertainment and rising property values led to the closure of all five Chateau de Ville locations by 1984. Today, the original venue stands repurposed as a retail store, serving as a nostalgic reminder of a vibrant era in Massachusetts entertainment history.
