Cville Sabroso Festival Showcases Latin American Flavors at the Ting Pavilion – The Cavalier Daily

The Cville Sabroso Festival recently took place at Ting Pavilion, celebrating Latin American culture through music, dance, food, and community engagement. This year marked the 14th annual event, featuring performances, delicious cuisine, and artisan displays that brought together festivalgoers from various backgrounds.

Andrea Jacobs, the festival’s director, highlighted its dual role as not only a celebration of culture but also as a fundraiser for Sin Barreras, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting immigrant families in central Virginia. The festival aims to educate attendees about Latin American traditions, contributing to a greater understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.

Co-founder Estela Diaz Knott shared how the festival was inspired by her mother’s initiative to share their heritage after facing judgment in her new community. Diaz Knott emphasized the importance of showcasing Latin culture publicly, making it accessible to everyone, especially for youth who may feel disconnected from their roots.

With an increase in attendance—nearly 4,700 participants in 2025—the festival has become a significant educational platform about Latin American culture and the work of Sin Barreras. Participants and volunteers expressed the festival’s importance in fostering community, unity, and a sense of belonging amidst challenging times.

Through this vibrant event, the Cville Sabroso Festival not only celebrates Latin American traditions but also strengthens the cultural fabric of Virginia, showcasing the vital contributions of the Latin community.
