US Vice President JD Vance attributed the rise in fuel prices to Iranian attacks on commercial shipping and criticized European countries for their lack of action to protect global energy supplies. He stated that the increased hostilities from Iran followed an agreement they signed to cease such actions.
Vance emphasized the need for the US to guarantee energy supply through the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting that American intervention is crucial for preventing a potential global energy crisis. He mentioned that, despite the tensions, significant volumes of oil continue to pass through the strait.
Vance underscored that two choices face the US: to withdraw and risk supply disruptions or to maintain pressure on Iran to cease its aggressions. He stressed that if the US did not take action, there would be no other country capable of ensuring the safety and reliability of energy supplies.
He also conveyed the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities while ensuring the protection of commercial shipping. The situation’s resolution, according to him, depends largely on Iran’s willingness to cease its hostilities.
