New Orleans Businesses Gear Up for Saints Home Opener

NEW ORLEANS — Excitement is mounting for the Saints’ home opener this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. This game marks the Saints’ 60th season and follows closely on the heels of the 20th anniversary of their emotional return to the Superdome post-Hurricane Katrina.

In true celebratory fashion, fans can look forward to live music before and during halftime, alongside new culinary offerings and commemorative memorabilia.

Local businesses are bracing for an influx of patrons. Bryan Clark, chef at Luke, noted, “Football season brings a lot of business—lots of foot traffic, and teams travel. It’s a time for the community to come together and celebrate their team.”

Clark is anticipating a bustling environment, expecting around 214 guests for brunch before kickoff. With preparations in full swing, he emphasized the importance of being ready for quick service.

While Saints games typically attract locals and visitors alike, the season’s crowd size can fluctuate based on the Saints’ performance. Marc Bonifacic, owner of Central City BBQ, shared that while previous years saw smaller crowds, there’s renewed optimism this season due to the team’s promising outlook following a recent win against the Ravens.

“This anniversary is a significant milestone, especially as people reflect on the uncertainty surrounding the Saints’ future after Hurricane Katrina,” Bonifacic remarked, expressing hope for a successful weekend as the team regains its form.

Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. on Sunday.
