Ed Sheeran is poised to take the stage again for the first time since Macklemore was dropped and other performers pulled out.

Ed Sheeran is scheduled to resume his tour on Saturday, following the withdrawal of all his supporting acts in solidarity with Macklemore, who was dropped after making pro-Palestinian comments at a recent concert. The situation has left Sheeran’s performance plans uncertain, particularly at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field where he may perform solo, as his original supporting acts had to bow out.

Macklemore expressed his intention to donate $1 million to Palestinian relief efforts and has called on Robert Kraft, owner of the stadium and a key figure in the decision to drop him, to match his contribution. Both Kraft and Sheeran have reportedly agreed to donate $2 million, though the specifics of the donations remain unclear.

Sheeran has refrained from publicly commenting on the reactions of his supporting artists, but has emphasized that he was not responsible for the decision to drop Macklemore. He stated that he aims to avoid political discussions at his concerts, believing that fans attend for music rather than current events.

As of Friday, tickets for the show were still available and no replacement acts had been announced. A coalition of pro-Palestinian groups is set to protest outside the venue on the day of the concert. The Loop Tour has been highly successful and is one of the top-grossing tours globally. Sheeran maintains that he tries to support his crew and fans, navigating the challenges posed by the concert’s political implications.
