Whitney Museum and Gap Team Up to Connect Pop Art, American Culture, and the Legacy of Roy Lichtenstein

Gap x Whitney Museum Collaboration Launches Today

Today marks the launch of an exclusive collaboration between Gap and the Whitney Museum of American Art in celebration of the Roy Lichtenstein: Like New exhibition. This limited-edition collection consists of 18 pieces that blend Gap’s dedication to American culture with Lichtenstein’s iconic Pop Art style, translating his renowned imagery into a wearable wardrobe.

Pop Art, Reimagined for Everyday Life

The Gap x Whitney Museum collection showcases Lichtenstein’s visual language, which has been refined over four decades. Known for his witty and graphically precise interpretations of advertisements and comic strips, Lichtenstein transformed the familiar into thought-provoking art. This collaboration brings his imagery onto classic Gap silhouettes, including hoodies, sweatshirts, T-shirts, and more, making it accessible for everyday wear.

Complementing the ‘Like New’ Exhibition

This collection launch coincides with the Whitney Museum’s exhibition, which features over 130 works from Lichtenstein’s extensive career. Curated by Meg Onli and Alex Da Corte, the exhibition delves into Lichtenstein’s fascination with mass media and popular culture. His influence, which spans thousands of artworks, is now extended to fashion through this collaboration, reinforcing the connection between art and everyday life.

Available Starting Today

The limited-edition collection is available from today at select Gap stores, on Gap.com, Whitney.org, and at the Whitney Museum store. This exciting collaboration is a unique way to experience Roy Lichtenstein’s art while embracing American fashion.
