Ford Plans $1 Billion Investment in New Paint Facility at Kentucky Truck Plant

Ford Motor Company is set to invest $1 billion in a new, advanced paint shop at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. This modernization aims to enhance paint quality, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, ensuring long-term competitiveness for the facility, which is Ford’s largest and highest-revenue plant in the U.S. The project is expected to begin by late 2026.

The Kentucky Truck Plant currently manufactures F-Series Super Duty pickups, alongside the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs, with a vehicle rolling off the assembly line every 45 seconds.

In addition to this project, Ford is also investing around $2 billion to upgrade the Louisville Assembly Plant for electric vehicle production, creating approximately 2,200 jobs and introducing the Ford Fathom midsize electric pickup by 2027. Furthermore, $2 billion will be allocated to convert a former battery manufacturing site in Glendale, Kentucky, into a large-scale battery energy storage production facility, expected to generate over 2,100 jobs and support significant annual production capacity starting in late 2027.

These investments reflect Ford’s confidence in Kentucky’s workforce and its commitment to U.S. manufacturing. Ford has a long-standing presence in the state, contributing about $11.7 billion to Kentucky’s GDP, with an estimated total economic impact exceeding $33 billion, including suppliers and vendors. Key quotes from company leaders highlight the importance of these initiatives in strengthening the partnership between Ford and Kentucky.
