UCF Knights Unveil Fresh Space-Themed Jerseys for Match Against Baylor

UCF Knights Unveil New Space Game Uniforms

On Tuesday, the UCF Knights revealed their brand-new “Space Game” uniforms, set to take the field against the Baylor Bears on October 30th. This marks the 10th annual Space Game, a tradition that honors the university’s connections to the U.S. space program. The uniforms feature a “Space U” patch over the Roman Numeral 10 (X), celebrating this milestone.

Design Highlights

The new uniforms incorporate several thematic elements:

  • Font and Color: The numbers use a Modified Microgramma font reminiscent of 1960s science fiction. Reflective silver accents pay homage to Project Mercury spacesuits.
  • Accents and Stripes: The blue and red accents evoke the cuffs of Gemini spacesuits, while the Canaveral Blue collar references the inner material of 1960s-era spacesuits. Apollo Mission stripes are featured on the pants, along with a red stripe on the helmets, complemented by chrome facemasks.

The Legacy of UCF and Space Game

UCF has a storied history with the U.S. Space Program, having been founded in 1963 as Florida Technological University to support NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Currently, 29% of Kennedy Space Center’s workforce comprises UCF alumni, and the university has contributed to over 591 NASA projects since the 1990s. With more than 35 space-related degrees offered, UCF prides itself on its status as “Space U.”

The first Space Game took place in 2017, coinciding with head coach Scott Frost’s second season, during which the Knights posted an undefeated record. UCF has been dominant in this event, winning the first eight Space Games, although they faced their first loss in 2025, making their overall record in the Space Game 8-1.

Current Season Outlook

Despite being viewed as underdogs in the Big 12 Conference, UCF opened their season with a victory against TCU. Coach Frost emphasized the importance of maintaining focus for each game, stating, “If we play well, we’re going to have a chance.”

Looking ahead, UCF’s next three opponents are all ranked in the AP Top 25, which will significantly impact their season trajectory. After this challenging stretch, they will return home for the highly anticipated Space Game against Baylor.
