Located at 151 S. High St., Warsaw, Nicodemus Cards & Gaming recently celebrated its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce. Coincidentally, the number 151 holds special meaning in the Pokémon community, as it corresponds to the original 151 Pokémon in the base set.
Growth and New Opportunities
Co-owner Mike Hadley shared insights into the store’s journey, which began in April 2021 at a smaller location on Winona Avenue. After moving to Market Street in October 2022, the team faced challenges with limited space. The new location expands their retail area threefold and their play space sixfold, providing ample room for events and tournaments.
Engaging the Community
Nicodemus offers a wide range of products, including sports and trading cards, board games, and accessories. They host various events, including:
- Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering tournaments
- Learn-to-play events
- Rip Nights with Topps
Their new spacious environment is designed for inclusivity, with a focus on youth leagues for trading card games.
Building Connections
Hadley emphasizes the importance of fostering community. The store has grown organically, attracting customers who eventually became employees. Current growth remains robust, with a 50% increase each year since opening.

Plans for the future include expanding hours, especially during the holiday season, and increasing engagement through events after hours.

Interestingly, the name Nicodemus is not personally tied to the owners but draws inspiration from a character in the animated film The Secret of NIMH and Maid Marian’s cat in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
