Fredonia Central School District Fills Teaching Vacancies

The Fredonia Central School District has made significant progress in addressing its teaching vacancies, thanks to recent hires. During a recent Board of Education meeting, Emily Johnson was appointed as the new Business and Marketing teacher. With an Initial Certification in Business and Marketing and a Master of Business Administration degree, Johnson brings valuable teaching experience from other districts and a robust professional background.

Superintendent Dr. Brad Zilliox expressed enthusiasm about Johnson’s hiring, highlighting her diverse experience that includes work with the Future Business Leaders of America. High School Principal Ron Tonelli echoed this sentiment, believing Johnson could successfully implement beneficial programs for students.

Additionally, the district has appointed James Lehner as its new Technology Teacher. Lehner holds Professional Certification in Technology Education and will serve on a four-year probationary basis. Zilliox acknowledged the challenges of filling specialized teaching roles and celebrated these new appointments as valuable assets to the district.

While the district is currently seeking to fill one remaining vacancy for a Special Education Teacher in the Middle School, it is also maintaining continuity with a new three-year contract extension for Andrew Wheelock, the Instructional Technology Specialist and Data Protection Officer.

The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. in the High School Library.
