Maluma Takes on Teaching Role in Latest Episode of Celebrity Substitute
Maluma recently returned to school, stepping into a teaching role for an episode of Celebrity Substitute. He taught a curious group of second graders from an elementary school in New York’s Spanish Harlem.
In the nearly 20-minute episode, hosted by Julian Shapiro-Barnum, Maluma shared insights into the basics of business and imparted aspects of his Latino culture. Reflecting on his childhood entrepreneurial spirit, he mentioned, “I started making businesses when I was a kid — 15, 16 years old.” He recalled his first venture of selling homemade sandwiches to classmates who didn’t bring lunch.
As the students engaged in friendly business pitch competitions, Maluma helped them craft their business ideas from scratch. The children also enjoyed fun interactions, asking questions and dancing to his hit song “Corazón.” Maluma expressed his nostalgia, stating: “Being a kid again is one of the best times of my life.”
Looking ahead, Maluma is confirmed to participate in the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Week, scheduled from October 19 to 22 at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach. He will be part of a Q&A session with Billboard’s Co-Chief Content Officer, Leila Cobo. The event coincides with the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards on October 22.
