Banner Supply Celebrates a Century of Service in Youngstown
For 100 years, Banner Supply has been an essential part of the Youngstown community, providing homeowners with tools and materials for home maintenance. Founded in 1926 by Richard Abel’s great-grandfather, the business has seamlessly transitioned through generations, with Richard now at the helm alongside his children, marking the fifth generation involved in the business.
The company celebrated its centenary on Friday, highlighting its evolution from a heating supply store to a diverse provider of building materials, including roofing, siding, windows, and decking.
Mayor Derrick McDowell attended the celebration and praised the significance of sustainable small businesses like Banner Supply, stating that they form the backbone of the community. “Ninety-nine percent of all business is small business, and they have been for over a century,” he remarked, noting the stability they bring to the area.
Richard Abel expressed gratitude for the support the community has shown over the years, emphasizing the importance of valued customers and dedicated employees. Looking to the future, he hopes for another 100 years of service and commitment to the Youngstown area.
