Legislation Mandates Free Access to Stream NFL Games

Senator Tammy Baldwin has introduced a bill that would mandate professional sports leagues to offer fans in Wisconsin free, live broadcasts of their home-state teams. This push comes amid a trend where more games are being moved to streaming services, with several Packers games this season set to air exclusively on platforms like Prime and Netflix.

Baldwin highlighted the financial strain many families are facing, emphasizing the need for accessible viewing options. She also pointed out the negative impact that streaming-only games have on sports bars and restaurants, which must pay for commercial streaming subscriptions that can be costly.

Despite bipartisan criticism of the NFL’s move to streaming, the future of Baldwin’s bill is uncertain. The Packers’ next game is against the Atlanta Falcons on Prime.
