Proposal for Dolly Parton Imagination Library Location at BNA Suggested by Petition Creator

Dolly Parton’s legacy in Nashville is being highlighted as efforts grow to honor her at Nashville International Airport (BNA). A petition initiated by Lydia Popovich is pushing for BNA to be renamed after Parton, following a recent policy change by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority that allows naming after individuals.

Beyond the airport’s name, Popovich proposed creating a dedicated space for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a literacy program that provides free books to children from birth to age 5. This space could engage families traveling through BNA, allowing them to learn about the program, check eligibility, and even pick up a book to read during their journey.

BNA has acknowledged the proposal, mentioning that discussions about potential partnerships are underway, although specific details remain undisclosed. The focus is shifting from the airport’s name to creating experiences that reflect Parton’s impact, particularly her contributions to childhood literacy.

Popovich believes that, regardless of the airport’s final name, implementing an Imagination Library space would be a meaningful way to connect families with Parton’s charitable work. For now, the airport is working through the logistics of potential collaborations, urging the public to stay tuned for updates.
