Washington’s largest utility company, Puget Sound Energy (PSE), is seeking state approval for a $1.5 billion rate increase. The proposal includes a 30% increase in electricity rates and nearly a 20% hike in gas rates over three years. Additionally, the plan allocates significant funds for shareholder payments.
In a recent public meeting, many customers expressed their concerns about this proposal. According to the estimates based on average usage, customers could face substantial increases in their monthly bills. By 2029, electricity customers might pay an additional $612 annually, while gas customers could see a $276 increase.
