Valens Semiconductor and onsemi have partnered to create a cost-effective three-megapixel automotive camera sensor utilizing MIPI A-PHY connectivity. This collaboration aims to facilitate faster adoption of advanced imaging solutions among OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, particularly as the automotive industry shifts towards higher resolution imaging.
Most current automotive image sensors operate in the one-to-three-megapixel range, making the new three-megapixel offering relevant for both established and emerging vehicle markets. Yoram Salinger, CEO of Valens, emphasized the significance of this partnership for broadening A-PHY’s application in the automotive sector, enhancing supplier options for automakers.
MIPI A-PHY serves as the automotive standard for high-speed sensor connectivity, with Valens already achieving design wins with various OEMs through its VA7000 series. This collaboration is set to further strengthen the ecosystem around A-PHY technology.
