Royal Family Reunion on the Horizon
A significant royal family reunion may soon unfold following a surprising change in plans. Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet are reportedly heading to the UK after a previous decision to postpone their trip.
Prince Harry made a solo trip back to the UK on July 6 to promote the upcoming Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham next year. Last weekend, The Telegraph reported that Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet originally canceled their plans due to safety concerns regarding police protection.
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the United States, Prince Harry lost a legal challenge that would have reinstated the automatic police protection he once had. However, reports surfaced on Friday indicating that the family reversed their decision, allowing Meghan and the children to accompany Harry for the latter part of his stay.
This visit marks the first time the Duchess of Sussex has returned to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. While in the UK, the family is not expected to make any public appearances, leading to speculation that they may meet with King Charles and Queen Camilla. Notably, King Charles has not seen his grandchildren since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Coinciding with their visit, Prince Harry and several prominent British figures, including Elton John, recently faced a setback in their privacy lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail. They alleged that stories published by Associated Newspapers from the 1990s to 2011 included unlawfully obtained information. Harry described the court judgment as “a complete and obvious whitewash.”
In response, Associated Newspapers touted the ruling as a significant victory for the Daily Mail, emphasizing the importance of a free press. The legal battle has reportedly cost over £50 million (approximately AUD 96 million) in total.
