JPMorgan among banks aiding in the funding of Japan’s $550 billion investment initiative in the U.S., sources say.

JPMorgan and other U.S. banks are nearing an agreement to provide financing for Japan’s $550 billion investment pledge. This support aims to help Japan fulfill commitments made to former U.S. President Donald Trump. Japanese banks have hesitated to participate due to challenges in converting yen to U.S. dollars for significant infrastructure projects. So far, Japan has announced over $100 billion in projects as part of this investment plan, which was established in July 2025 to mitigate potential tariffs that Trump had threatened on Japanese exports.
