The Venture Center has launched the fourth cohort of the Arkansas Lithium Technology Accelerator (ALTA), marking the first accelerator in the nation focused specifically on lithium and battery supply chain innovation. This three-week program aims to connect participating companies with key players in the lithium and energy tech ecosystem across Arkansas, including producers, researchers, and investors.
Starting on September 8 in Magnolia, the program will continue in Little Rock and Northwest Arkansas, providing direct engagement with the state’s lithium economy. Key focuses of the programming include lithium production, battery materials manufacturing, commercialization, and logistics.
The cohort features three notable companies:
- ACT-ion Battery Technologies: Develops a continuous manufacturing process for cathode materials.
- Princeton Critical Minerals: Innovates sustainable lithium extraction methods from brine.
- Arcam: Works on economically viable recycling of lithium iron phosphate batteries.
Sarah Thomas from The Venture Center emphasized the program’s aim of fostering economic growth through collaboration. Arthur Orduña noted the strong technical expertise of the current cohort.
Key stakeholders in ALTA include Standard Lithium, the University of Arkansas, and various industry partners, all aimed at strengthening Arkansas’ position in the domestic battery supply chain. The initiative receives support from several business sponsors and coalitions throughout the state.
