In the latest episode of The Celebrity Traitors, Richard E Grant made history by being the first Traitor eliminated during the first Round Table, facing a staggering 16 out of 20 votes against him. Following his banishment, Grant humorously remarked, “I have managed to check-mate myself which, as far as I’m aware, has never been done.” Host Claudia Winkleman acknowledged the unexpected event, stating, “Players, this has never happened before.”
Fans took to social media, expressing admiration for Grant and urging him to “take a bow” for his memorable exit. Supportive comments included sentiments like “Absolutely gutted for Richard; he would’ve given us so many iconic moments,” and others who called for his return in future seasons.
Despite the setback, the remaining Traitors, Maya Jama and James Acaster, proceeded to recruit Professor Hannah Fry into their ranks after Grant’s departure. The episode has sparked discussions about strategy and misjudgment among players, with Joanne McNally admitting to being taken in by Grant’s charm.
Overall, this unexpected twist adds a new layer of excitement to the competition, leaving viewers eager for what comes next. The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One and is available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
