GTRI Opens New Facility for Collaboration with U.S. Space Force
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On a clear morning at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) inaugurated a new facility aimed at fostering collaboration between top technologists and the U.S. Space Force. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by GTRI engineers, scientists, and members of Colorado’s congressional delegation.
The new field office features a large secure classified workspace designed for close cooperation between GTRI personnel and Space Force teams. Currently, it houses forty GTRI staff members, a move reflecting a growing belief within the defense community that fast-paced modern threats require seamless collaboration between researchers and military personnel.
John Bunnell, GTRI’s Director of Space Program Development, emphasized the benefits of this structure: “We won’t have to go through layers of translation because the government people with technology needs will be sitting next to the GTRI engineers offering solutions. This makes for a very close interaction that we expect to continue for many years to come.”
