Application period for energy assistance now available in Indiana

LIHEAP Applications Open for Hoosier Electric Customers

Eligible electric customers in Indiana can now apply for the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program aims to provide financial assistance to help households manage home heating costs during the winter.

Enrollment Assistance

CenterPoint Energy is collaborating with the Community Action Program of Evansville (CAPE) to offer in-person enrollment assistance. They’ll also connect customers with additional resources at various upcoming events.

Mike Roeder, President of CenterPoint Energy Indiana, emphasized the importance of LIHEAP, urging those needing help with their bills to apply. He noted the partnership with CAPE aims to raise awareness about available resources for customers and their families.

Upcoming Events for Assistance

CAPE representatives will be available at Customer Connect events on Wednesdays at the CenterPoint Energy Plaza. They will also participate in larger Community Connect events, including Energy Assistance Awareness Day on October 28. During these events, customers can:

  • Get answers to their LIHEAP questions
  • Learn about eligibility requirements
  • Receive guidance on completing applications
  • Connect with other cost-saving and energy resources
