Construction to Kick Off on Entertainment Complex and Arena in Forsyth County, Says Developer

Forsyth County’s $3 Billion Entertainment District

ATLANTA, Ga. — A significant $3 billion entertainment district aiming to attract an NHL team to Forsyth County is set to begin site work on September 7. According to Krause Sports and Entertainment, the development team behind the project, crews will start grading over 90 acres for The Gathering at South Forsyth, marking the start of a crucial phase with “purpose, significant investment, and a clear path to execution.”

Timeline:

  • Site Work Duration: 5 months
  • Utility and Electrical Work: Following site grading
  • Construction Start Date: Summer 2027

Supporters of the initiative believe a planned 700,000-square-foot arena could serve as a home for a professional hockey team, addressing a demand within the community.

Krause Sports and Entertainment expressed confidence in the project, noting committed ownership, community backing, and a favorable market. They highlighted their progress and the strategic vision for long-term success in professional sports within the area.

NHL Franchise Status

While discussions are underway in Forsyth County, the NHL has yet to confirm the awarding of an expansion or relocated franchise to Georgia. An alternative development initiative is also pursuing an NHL team in Alpharetta.
