Penn Endowment Experiences 27.4% Growth in Fiscal Year 2026

The University of Pennsylvania’s endowment experienced a remarkable growth of 27.4% in fiscal 2026, marking it as the second-best performance year after the impressive 41.1% return in fiscal 2021. This increase resulted in a substantial $7 billion rise in assets, adding a net $6.3 billion to the portfolio.

Managed by the Penn Office of Investments under CIO Peter Ammon, the endowment saw returns of 12.2% in fiscal 2025, 7.1% in fiscal 2024, 1.3% in fiscal 2023, and 0.98% in fiscal 2022. As of June 30, 2025, it managed $24.8 billion.

While the specific asset allocation and return drivers for the recent fiscal year have not been disclosed, many university endowments reported double-digit returns, largely due to investments in artificial intelligence through venture capital firms and the highly anticipated IPO of SpaceX.
