Attack on Energy Facilities in Ukraine
On the night of September 29-30, Russia launched an extensive attack on energy infrastructure across Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and other areas, resulting in significant damage.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi shared details of the attacks via Facebook, as reported by Ukrinform. He noted that missiles and drones targeted energy facilities, marking the first such comprehensive assault since the end of the previous heating season.
Koretskyi provided an update on the impact, stating: “The nighttime attack has resulted in damage and destruction. I am awaiting a detailed report on the condition of the equipment and the timeline for restoration.”
He urged local officials to ensure that backup power systems are ready at essential facilities and to expedite their installation and connection.
The attacks affected 11 regions, targeting not only energy infrastructure but also residential buildings, social infrastructure, civilian enterprises, and railways. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that emergency response teams are actively working on repair and cleanup efforts.
Additionally, the Air Defense Forces intercepted five ballistic missiles and 155 drones initiated by Russian forces during this assault.
