Olive Garden’s parent company prohibits hats at its sister restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is tightening its dress code, banning hats and enforcing a “business casual” standard for diners. Guests wearing hats may have to relocate to the bar, and the restaurant also forbids various wardrobe choices, such as gym wear, revealing outfits, and clothing with offensive graphics. In contrast, The Capital Grille, another chain under the same parent company, has less strict hat policies but still maintains an elegant atmosphere and similar clothing restrictions.

Darden Restaurants, which owns Ruth’s Chris, also operates other chains like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. Olive Garden is taking a different approach with its “Lighter Portions” menu, offering smaller, more affordable dishes to attract diners. Despite the contrasting strategies, both chains are clearly setting standards to enhance the dining experience. So if you’re heading to Ruth’s Chris, it’s best to leave the baseball cap at home.
