Microsoft is launching a groundbreaking artificial intelligence-based medical tool named Copilot Health. This innovative application is designed to evaluate users’ health data and offer customized recommendations, as reported by AzerNEWS.
Copilot Health will be integrated into the existing Copilot application. Once users give their consent, the tool will have the ability to connect with various sources, including medical records, test results, medication details, doctors’ notes, and data from wearable devices like the Apple Watch and Fitbit. Leveraging this wealth of information, the AI assistant will examine health trends and provide tailored advice concerning symptoms, lifestyle choices, and potential health risks. For those who prefer not to share personal health data, the service will still be able to deliver general health recommendations.
Microsoft assures users that all submitted data will be encrypted and kept securely separate from the rest of the application. To ensure identity verification, the Clear identification service will be used, facilitating the transfer of medical data to Copilot Health through the HealthEx provider, which operates under the federal TEFCA initiative. Users will have full control over their data, allowing them to manage, download, or delete their information whenever they wish. Furthermore, medical records and health-related conversations will be stored apart from standard Copilot chats to enhance privacy.
Mustafa Suleyman, head of Microsoft’s AI division, has expressed confidence that the introduction of this service will not only pique interest in Copilot but also attract new users. Microsoft has plans to roll out a paid subscription model in the future, offering advanced health features. The phased rollout is set to begin in the United States.
The usefulness of this tool will be particularly pronounced for individuals managing chronic conditions that require continuous monitoring and timely reminders. Copilot Health is anticipated to be compatible with data from over 50,000 hospitals and medical organizations throughout the United States, encompassing laboratory networks and diagnostic centers.
Experts assert that AI assistants like Copilot Health can play a vital role in helping individuals better understand their medical data, formulate questions prior to doctor visits, and track long-term health trends. This could potentially lead to a more proactive and personalized healthcare experience.
