Baristas will begin crafting the shop’s signature pour-over coffees and the popular Mint Mojito coffee drinks with freshly roasted beans starting next week. Soft-opening hours are set for 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17. The grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, when the official business hours will run from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Located on the East 14th Street corridor, the stylish 2,500-square-foot Philz offers seating for 43 customers in a midcentury-modern design with high ceilings. This new establishment occupies a ground-floor retail space within the recently constructed Centro Callan apartment community.

A highlight of the space is a mural created by Bay Area artist Nigel Sussman, which captures San Leandro’s history, agricultural roots, and local landmarks, ranging from the famous cherry orchards to a beloved former raceway. Another mural emphasizes Philz’s commitment to brewing “one cup at a time.”

Seasonal offerings on the menu include exciting new beverages such as Pistachio Spice and Cashew Cocoa, available at this location and others.
