POCARI SWEAT Maker Launches Kaempferol Supplement

Kaempferol is a flavonoid derived from various plants, recognized for its potential health benefits. Research indicates that it may enhance sleep quality and promote gut health while helping to manage weight gain.

A Japanese firm is set to introduce its new product under the brand /zeroz, aiming to leverage the benefits of this promising compound.

The product, available in tablet form, features 10mg of kaempferol sourced solely from horseradish leaves as its active ingredient.

This selection was made after an extensive analysis of 341 high-altitude food varieties from across the globe.

“Otsuka concentrated on the lifestyle and dietary habits of high-altitude populations inhabiting low-oxygen regions. By examining 341 types of high-altitude foods worldwide, we determined that kaempferol is a vital component,” the company stated in their press release. “Further research revealed that horseradish leaves are particularly rich in kaempferol.”

The company emphasizes that a daily intake of at least 10mg of kaempferol could enhance overall wellbeing by optimizing oxygen utilization, which aligns with the product’s intended function.

/zeroz is built on the concept of ‘active inner resources’, differing from conventional supplements that merely replace missing nutrients. Instead, it focuses on activating the body’s natural capabilities to better utilize oxygen, acting as a self-conditioning food that fosters a healthy daily life,” the company explained.

This product will be exclusively available for subscription-based purchases online, starting March 17.

Thirteen Years of Research

The company has invested 13 years into researching the benefits of kaempferol, culminating in various studies assessing its safety and absorption efficiency.

A pilot study published in the International Journal of Biometeorology last July indicated that a daily intake of 10mg of kaempferol over four weeks could diminish the frequency, duration, and intensity of physical and mental symptoms associated with meteoropathy, or weather-related discomfort.

The study included 458 individuals reporting moderate symptoms linked to changing weather patterns such as headaches, fatigue, and stiffness in the shoulders and neck.

The effectiveness of kaempferol supplementation was evaluated through questionnaires completed before and after the intervention.

Results revealed significant reductions in the frequency, duration, and severity of the assessed symptoms after the intervention.

Remarkably, over 80% of participants reported some level of improvement in their overall symptoms.

A study published in 2024 corroborates these findings, confirming that kaempferol can enhance oxygen uptake and utilization efficiency. Symptoms like headaches and fatigue, often related to low oxygen levels, may be alleviated by kaempferol’s supportive role in oxygen processing.

“Our findings suggest that kaempferol could serve as a promising non-pharmacological approach to address weather-related physical and mental symptoms by focusing on oxygen utilization and autonomic regulation,” the researchers concluded.

Enhancing Bioavailability

Kaempferol is naturally present in various fruits and vegetables, including ginger, cauliflower, grapefruit, and green tea.

However, it predominantly exists in a glycoside form in plants, which is water-soluble and less readily absorbed by the body.

To enhance its bioavailability, the company has transformed kaempferol into its aglycone form using proprietary processing technology. The aglycone variant is lipophilic, facilitating better absorption in the body.
