Cohesity Enhances AI Data Resilience with New Cloud Tools

Cohesity has announced a series of updates to its data protection and security offerings, introducing new partnerships focused on sovereign cloud solutions, enhanced threat-detection capabilities, and a tailored packaging option designed specifically for midsize organizations.

The latest developments highlight what Cohesity refers to as “enterprise AI resilience,” aimed at safeguarding data and infrastructure as organizations increasingly adopt AI technologies. The updates encompass controls for data residency, cyber vaulting, malware scanning, recovery workflows, and AI-driven data discovery within backup environments.

“The rise of AI is amplifying both the value of data and the risks associated with it,” remarked Vasu Murthy, Chief Product Officer at Cohesity. “Today’s resilience demands an ability to detect threats promptly, recover to a pristine state, and maintain governance across complex environments, all at the speed and scale that modern enterprises require. These enhancements strengthen the protection and security foundation that organizations depend on as they integrate AI into their operations. We’re also expanding how customers can access, deploy, and utilize our platform. As AI becomes central to business functions, Cohesity provides a unified platform that safeguards data while driving innovation.”

Sovereign Cloud

The growing importance of data residency and sovereignty requirements is influencing how organizations select cloud architectures for backup, recovery, and security measures. Cohesity has announced its latest partnerships within a broader sovereign cloud ecosystem that extends well beyond storage.

New collaborators include AntemetA and Singtel. Additionally, Cohesity has taken the lead as a launch partner for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and has earned certification as a Google Cloud Ready Regulated and Sovereignty Solutions partner. In Canada, the company is partnering with Micrologic to enhance sovereign cloud data protection.

This initiative reflects a heightened need for controls that comply with jurisdictional regulations and oversight. Many organizations also require operating models that ensure protected copies of data remain within specified boundaries, even when production systems utilize diverse cloud services and software-as-a-service platforms.

Threat Detection

Cohesity detailed forthcoming security upgrades aimed at enhancing the detection of malicious activities and reinforcing recovery processes. These enhancements concentrate on malware scanning, checks for indicators of compromise, and workflows designed to validate recovery points before systems are reinstated.

Among the updates is integrated threat scanning for self-managed Cohesity FortKnox environments, enabling the scanning of vaulted data for clients with digital sovereignty needs or those operating in isolated, dark-site environments.

Additionally, integrated threat scanning for dark-site Cohesity Data Cloud deployments will provide malware and indicator-of-compromise scanning in environments that are entirely disconnected from the public internet.

For the Cohesity NetBackup Flex Appliance, Cohesity is incorporating self-encrypting drives and built-in malware scanning to ensure data protection at rest and enhance malware detection capabilities within the appliance.

Cohesity also introduced cloud application environment recovery utilizing declarative design, which reconstructs cloud environments from infrastructure-as-code configurations, establishing a trusted baseline. This approach is linked to quicker recovery times and minimized configuration drift.

“Organizations in the ASEAN region are navigating numerous data sovereignty challenges as they strive to comply with stringent data privacy regulations across various cloud, SaaS, and hybrid environments,” stated Lim Hsin Yin, Vice President of Sales for the ASEAN region at Cohesity. “The new enhancements across Cohesity’s data protection and security portfolio, along with the sovereign cloud partnerships, will equip our enterprise customers in the region with the tools necessary to meet residency mandates while fortifying AI infrastructure against both current and emerging threats.”

Cohesity also emphasized its collaboration with Google Cloud services, including a managed service option for Cohesity FortKnox on Google Cloud, along with integrations with Google Threat Intelligence and Google Private Scanning within Cohesity Data Cloud. These changes extend cyber vaulting capabilities to Google Cloud environments and introduce sandbox inspection phases to backup and recovery workflows.

Data Posture

Cohesity has unveiled Data Security Posture Management, powered by Cyera. This product offers continuous discovery, classification, and posture analysis of sensitive data across cloud, SaaS, and AI-enabled environments, while supporting prioritized remediation based on exposure.

This initiative responds to the increasing scrutiny concerning how data is accessed and reused in AI projects, especially when organizations utilize a combination of internal datasets and third-party services. Effective data discovery and classification are essential for enforcing policy measures and minimizing the risk of sensitive information being transferred into tools lacking adequate controls.

AI Insights

On the AI front, Cohesity continues to develop Cohesity Gaia, which aims to generate insights from the data safeguarded within Cohesity Data Cloud. The company has also introduced federated semantic search via the Model Context Protocol.

This innovative approach enables AI-driven enterprise applications, such as Glean, to securely access governed backup data. Furthermore, Cohesity unveiled the Cohesity Gaia Catalog, allowing teams to discover and engage with protected data from analytics platforms like Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.

Midsize Packaging

In a separate announcement, Cohesity introduced Cohesity Essentials, a simplified pricing and packaging option tailored for midsize organizations.

This offering provides access to Cohesity’s cyber resilience platform with reduced complexity and overhead compared to traditional enterprise deployments, thereby broadening access to its data protection, security, and AI-related functionalities for smaller IT teams.

Cohesity stated that the new sovereign cloud partnerships, security enhancements, and Data Security Posture Management product will complement ongoing advancements in Gaia features that link governed backup data with enterprise search and analytics tools.
