Attalon delivers US-engineered high-energy laser component for defense initiative.

Attalon has successfully delivered its first Valaris high-energy laser subsystem to a U.S. customer, part of an international defense initiative aimed at enhancing directed energy capabilities among U.S. allies. This is a significant milestone, as it represents the company’s first production of the Valaris subsystem intended for international use and reflects a growing demand for high-energy laser technology.

CEO John Bergeron highlighted that this achievement underscores the expanding interest in Valaris and the ability to produce high-energy laser systems domestically. He emphasized Attalon’s commitment to supporting U.S. military efforts while also assisting allied forces.

The Valaris family consists of various mission-ready, beam-combined laser subsystems with power levels ranging from 5 kW to over 400 kW, designed for integration into operational defense systems. To further bolster its production capacity, Attalon recently announced a $15 million investment to meet the increasing demand for these advanced systems.

Furthermore, AeroVironment has entered into a long-term agreement with Attalon for the supply of Valaris S laser subsystems to support their high-energy laser programs, including the LOCUST weapon system. The U.S. Army is heavily investing in these technologies, with a $464.8 million contract for a new laser system aimed at counter-drone operations.

The demand for advanced laser systems reflects a broader initiative within the military to develop effective defenses against unmanned aerial threats, showcasing a commitment to innovation and technological advancement in defense capabilities.
