Celebrity Chef to Host Dinner for Turlock Community in Support of Westside Ministries

Celebrity chef Susie Jimenez is set to host a unique fundraiser dinner in Turlock next week, benefiting Westside Ministries and the Ghetto Gardeners. A native of Turlock, Susie’s culinary journey began in her youth, picking fruits with her parents who emigrated from Mexico. She honed her skills at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, eventually holding various chef positions and even competing on season 7 of “Food Network Star.”

Currently residing in Colorado, Susie runs her own catering business and actively teaches cooking techniques through various events. On October 7, she will offer a pre-order takeaway dinner, with proceeds supporting local youth programs through Westside Ministries, which focuses on agriculture and community development. The Ghetto Gardeners, part of this initiative, provide fresh produce and mentoring opportunities.

The dinner menu features:

  • Caprese Salad: Fresh peaches, sweet tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil with balsamic dressing for $7.
  • Steak Stir-Fry: Tender steak with bell peppers, onions, garlic, and ginger in a ponzu-sesame dressing, served with vegetable fried rice and an egg roll for $13.
  • Pear and Caramel Bread Pudding for $5.

To pre-order meals for pickup after 5:30 p.m. on October 7, call 209-667-8593 and pick up at 952 Columbia St., Turlock. Susie emphasizes the importance of inspiring youth to pursue positive futures and the joy of feeding the community.
