Mamavation Sent Seed to the Laboratory to Test for Contaminants
Since 2018, Mamavation has been examining and testing Seed DS-01. Although we had limited resources to conduct an extensive analysis of various probiotics this year, we ensured that we sent the same probiotic from our previous investigation for thorough testing.
Thus, we dispatched the Seed DS-01 to an EPA-certified laboratory to evaluate contaminants. We specifically tested for four heavy metals: lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury. Additionally, we sought indications of PFAS “forever chemicals,” glyphosate, AMPA, and phthalates. The findings were very favorable.

Seed DS-01 has emerged as one of the cleanest supplements that Mamavation has independently tested. According to laboratory results, no glyphosate, AMPA, over 300 additional pesticides, specific PFAS “forever chemicals,” or organic fluorine (indicators of PFAS) were found.
A note on phthalates: Mamavation has detected phthalates in nearly every supplement we’ve analyzed, including those pending publication. We have a good understanding of what constitutes lower phthalate levels in the industry currently. The levels found in Seed DS-01 were indeed low, even lower than those found in the best women’s multivitamins, placing it in our “best” category. However, it’s worth mentioning that the only instances of non-detect phthalate results have been in some “gummies” and “chews” of children’s multivitamins; we have not encountered this with solid supplements yet. This calls for a closer examination, and we appreciate consumers bringing issues like this to light.
The four primary heavy metals examined—lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury—showed concentrations well below Prop. 65 warning thresholds. Hence, according to California’s strict regulations, Seed DS-01 does not require any warnings regarding heavy metals.
