A kosher restaurant in the heart of Paris was vandalized with acid on Thursday night, as reported by the Paris public prosecutor’s office on Monday.
Staff members at Kokoriko discovered the damage early Friday morning, finding acid sprayed across the tables, walls, and floor. This incident rendered the restaurant’s cutlery, crockery, and glasses unusable, leaving a white residue on the surfaces from where the acid had corroded them. The restaurant employees promptly contacted the Paris Fire Brigade.
The brigade dispatched its specialized nuclear, radiological, biological, and chemical unit, while technicians from the Central Laboratory of the Police Prefecture analyzed the corrosive liquid.
The prosecutor’s office informed the Post that an investigation has been initiated concerning property damage inflicted through a means deemed dangerous to individuals, especially if motivated by race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion. This is classified as an offense carrying a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of €150,000.
The inquiry has been assigned to the local police station in the 17th arrondissement.
The Kokoriko restaurant has previously been the target of acid attacks on its facade, with two prior incidents. The latest attack occurred on October 9, 2025; however, law enforcement was unable to identify the assailants, leading to the closure of the investigation.
The restaurant will remain closed until specialists can clean the corrosive materials. Kokoriko did not respond to the Post’s request for additional comments.
