MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The rise of artificial intelligence is transforming the way golfers approach practice sessions, delivering insightful, data-driven feedback that surpasses conventional training methods.
Unlike traditional tools that simply gauge distance, AI technology can analyze swing patterns and pinpoint necessary adjustments.

Applications like GolfFix deconstruct smartphone videos into actionable swing data, providing instant analyses. Furthermore, smart sensors attached to golf clubs can track each shot, ultimately converting a round of golf into a collection of data points. AI-enhanced grips can also monitor grip pressure and swing movements.

Christopher Griffin, the founder, co-owner, and head instructor at Mashie Golf Institute, noted that while these tools offer new insights, they haven’t altered the fundamental challenges of golf. “All these devices claim to resolve issues that we’ve been trying to tackle for a century. The reality is, physics and anatomy remain unchanged, and these are the foundational aspects of golf,” Griffin stated.
However, he acknowledges the value of the data provided. “It’s beneficial as it eliminates much of the guesswork in our approach. It equips us with comprehensive information while requiring fewer repetitions and reducing uncertainty. We need consistent feedback and reliable data for every attempt,” he emphasized.
In a community abundant with instructors and prestigious courses, this data-driven approach is reshaping how golfers train. Regardless of how sophisticated the tools become, the essential principles of the game remain steadfast — AI can offer data, but it cannot take the swing itself.
