All occupants and their pets safely evacuate during Lafayette apartment fire.

The Lafayette Fire Department is currently investigating a fire that caused damage to an apartment building at 711 Cincinnati Street. The blaze erupted just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, displacing all residents, who were able to escape, along with their pets. The fire began outside a second-floor unit and spread to the attic. Fire crews quickly brought it under control, though two firefighters required treatment for minor heat-related illnesses. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
