AustralianSuper Set to Contribute Almost $350 Million to Indian Infrastructure Fund

AustralianSuper Boosts Investment in India’s Infrastructure

AustralianSuper has announced a significant increase in its commitment to India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), pledging an additional A$500 million (approximately $346.9 million). This investment raises the fund’s total holdings in India across various asset classes to A$3.3 billion (around $2.29 billion).

The latest funding comes on the heels of an initial investment made in 2019, which totaled A$240 million as part of an agreement with the Indian sovereign wealth fund to invest up to $1 billion in infrastructure opportunities.

About the NIIF

Established in 2015, the NIIF aims to attract global investors to support infrastructure development within India. Shaun Manuell, Chief Investment Officer of AustralianSuper, highlighted that their partnership with the NIIF has been one of the fund’s most successful endeavors.

Manuell’s Outlook

In a statement, Manuell praised the NIIF for demonstrating the potential of combining long-term capital with visionary policies and strong partnerships. He emphasized India’s robust economic growth and expanding middle class as factors making the country an appealing investment destination. He also noted that the Indian government has facilitated capital deployment for institutions.

Conclusion

With this increase in investment, AustralianSuper continues to reinforce its commitment to building infrastructure in India, which promises potential long-term returns and growth.
