Izzy’s Kosher-Style Deli Opening on Ohio 63 in Monroe

Izzy’s Expansion: New Location in Monroe

“Business was thriving,” stated Geisen, the owner of five other locations, regarding the traffic on Ohio 63. “It felt like the perfect moment to make a bold decision.”

The excitement grew when Izzy’s announced on its Facebook page that they were considering a Monroe location. Geisen noted that their typical post garners around 20,000 to 30,000 views.

However, the post about Monroe attracted an astounding 271,000 views.

“Let’s make it happen,” Geisen thought to himself.

Situated on the north side of Ohio 63, the new Izzy’s venue is anticipated to open in July, contingent on weather conditions. This 1,900-square-foot establishment will accommodate indoor dining for 70 guests, outdoor seating for 24 beneath a canopy, as well as a drive-through service.

The restaurant plans to hire about 10 full-time and 10 part-time employees. Notably, it will close every Sunday, a strategy that has proven successful at their other locations, according to Geisen.

Geisen was particularly drawn to Monroe because of the approximately 30,000 vehicles that travel Ohio 63 daily, alongside the added foot traffic from the nearby Cincinnati Premium Outlet, Miami Valley Gaming, and local flea markets.

After visiting Miami Valley Gaming, he described it as “very welcoming.”

The Monroe Izzy’s will be the sixth franchise location and the furthest north; however, there was a previous Izzy’s in downtown Dayton during the early 1990s that has since closed.

Geisen believes that Izzy’s will draw customers from across Butler and Warren counties, considering the nearest location in Forest Park is about 20 minutes away.

He envisions the restaurant becoming “a destination” thanks to its “very unique product,” which features a kosher-style delicatessen.

Geisen brings extensive experience to the venture, having started his journey at Izzy’s—founded in 1901—in 1982. He became president in 1989 and purchased the business from the Kadetz family in 1992.

Izzy Kadetz, known for his “stiff-necked and stubborn” demeanor, left a lasting impression on many patrons. Stories circulated about his lively interactions with his wife, Rose, and the fluctuating prices of food based on customers’ appearances and perceived finances, as highlighted on the company’s website.

Conclusion

As Izzy’s prepares to launch its new location in Monroe, excitement builds around its unique offerings and the potential for success in a bustling area. With a strong foundation and a history of engagement with customers, the restaurant aims to create a welcoming environment for both new and loyal patrons.
